Every score on this site is computed from public records your local health department already collects.
WHY WE BUILT IT
Health inspection data is a public good. Your tax dollars fund the inspectors, the labs, the databases. But the data itself usually lives behind ugly portals, in 50-page PDFs, or buried in spreadsheets nobody can parse. This is the most basic civic project we could think of: take the data, turn it into something a normal human can use in five seconds.

Florida classifies violations into High Priority, Intermediate, and Basic. We weight High Priority hardest, decay the past, and treat "Warning Issued" as a real middle ground.

A FEW THINGS THIS SITE ISN'T
We're not Yelp. We don't review food. We don't know if a place has a good vibe. We're not a substitute for your own judgment. A restaurant marked EAT can still serve you a bad meal. A restaurant marked BEAT might have a passionate cook who's just behind on paperwork. We translate inspections. That's it.
